Trine 4: Zoya

Redesign of the familiar character Zoya the thief from the Trine Series's newest addition Trine 4 the Nightmare Prince. I worked as a character artist and the art director in the project.

In a fantasy world anything is possible, realism is not the first priority. Still, characters should be believable, relate to the world where they live in, and their designs should tell a story about who they are. Visually the essence of Zoya’s character is the white hooded tunic with a touch of red and of course her bow and grappling hook. A white outfit for a secretive rogue might not be the most realistic one, but it is an iconic element that needed to be kept with the new design. Her new outfit has evolved into a more practical direction - by the fourth installment of the Trine series all of the heroes have now more adventure appropriate attire. This adds to the believability of the character designs as they are running through snowy mountains as well as summery meadows.
